"Goro Goro" is a 2023 SCAD Capstone film about a baby thunder god, Daigoro, who tries to figure out his own passion.

In this project, I applied everything I had learned from my first producing project by making things more centralized and clear from the beginning.

One personal goal I had with this capstone was using as much of ShotGrid as possible so that by the time I graduate, I would be a near expert with this system. I took the time to essentially 'deep dive' into ShotGrid's website and review page examples from tutorials and try to recreate them for practice.

Over the summer, we did not yet have access to ShotGrid, but there was still a film to begin! To track our progress, I utilized Google Sheets. Once we made the move to ShotGrid, the production spreadsheet still had pages that were still important and relative to our project.

During preproduction, I conducted a test screening for our animatic. After the screenings, participants filled out a survey and I wrote a report analyzing all the feedback from participants to help give my directors a strong sense on where to go next with our story.

Challenges

With the takeaways I got from The How Book, I was excited to make something strong from the ground up.

  • Conducting thorough research and creating a robust ShotGrid

  • Developed and analyzed a film test screening for the pre-production stages of the film

  • Handled communication and submissions regarding film festivals
